Bathrooms in Littleton
Littleton is where we do the most tub-to-shower conversions, because the housing stock is full of fibreglass units nobody uses.
A late-century tract build typically has a 60 by 30 alcove with a one-piece fibreglass tub and surround, a builder vanity and a fan ducted into the attic. All three are straightforward to improve and the alcove is exactly the right size for a generous single shower, which is why conversions are the most common job we do out here.
The fan is the part clients do not expect to hear about. A great many of these houses have the bathroom exhaust terminating in the attic or in a soffit rather than through the roof or the wall, which is how you get a stained ceiling and, in a Denver winter, frost on the underside of the sheathing. We re-duct to the exterior as a matter of course.
Structurally these houses are the easiest we work on. Engineered or dimensional joists at regular centres, plywood subfloor, PVC or ABS waste. Curbless entries are usually possible, and the numbers are more predictable than on anything pre-war.
