• Joists sistered and headered to take a recessed pan for a level entry
• Zero-threshold shower, linear drain, single-plane fall
• Tiled bench at 18 inches high, 16 deep, top sloped to drain
• Blocking rated to 250 lb at every bar position, bars pull-tested
• Floor tile selected on published wet DCOF of 0.62
• Thermostatic valve with the scald limit set at commissioning

   Pan recess formed, rough-in, blocking schedule fitted and photographed

3. Week 3

   Membrane, pre-slope, flood test, bench built and waterproofed

4. Weeks 4 to 5

   Tile, bars, glass, vanity, commissioning with the client present

Outcome

The client walked in on a walker on handover day and did not have to lift a foot over anything. Every bar in the room reads as hardware rather than as equipment.

I did not want a bathroom that announced my mother's hip to every visitor. Nobody who has seen it has mentioned the bars.
